Updates and Reminders - March 3, 2026
Achievement District Test Coordinators,

Students have been uploaded to the PearsonAccess Next (PAN) sites for AASA, AzSCI, ACT Aspire, and ACT. Any newly enrolled students or any students that were missed in ADE's upload will need to be added to PAN by the school or district in preparation for testing. Here are a few reminders as we approach the statewide achievement test windows.
  • All students who are enrolled and in attendance during the state test windows are expected to test. There are no provisions in Arizona state law for parents to opt their students out of testing nor medical exemptions for state testing, including AASA, AzSCI, ACT Aspire, and ACT assessments.
  • Schools do not need parent permission to test students. The Arizona Attorney General issued an opinion about parental opt out of state tests. You can find this under the "Legal" tab on our website at https://www.azed.gov/assessment/technical-and-legal-resources. Please schedule makeup testing, as needed, during the test windows in order to test all students.
  • Students who have withdrawn from your school/district/charter do not need to be removed from PAN. Because PAN is not used for Accountability purposes, these records can safely be left in PAN as is.
  • High school testing (AzSCI, ACT Aspire, and ACT) is by cohort rather than by grade level or courses completed or enrolled in. The cohort is assigned when a student enters 9th grade and stays with them throughout high school, regardless of actual grade level, courses completed, or courses enrolled in. The STUD78-Cohort Verification Report in the AzEDS Portal in ADEConnect can be used to verify a student's cohort. Please contact us at Testing@azed.gov if you have questions about a student's cohort.
Work Requests

District Test Coordinators should now be checking regularly for work requests (student transfers) in PAN that are waiting for approval for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire. Look for the red bell at the top of the screen in PAN. A red bell indicates that you have a work request waiting for approval.

ACT does not use the work request process in PAN. For ACT, DTCs will need to submit the Enroll or Unenroll Students request to ACT to enroll or unenroll students from ACT PAN. This form can be found in ACT PAN under Support > Documentation.
Training Modules in the Arizona Learning Management System (AzLMS)

Each Achievement training module in the AzLMS has an accompanying transcript and PowerPoint flat file that can be downloaded from the Resources section in AzLMS. We strongly recommend downloading these resources to refer back to over the next few months. Once you have completed a module, if you select the "Revisit" button in AzLMS, the module will restart from the beginning. Rather than viewing the entire module again, you can use the provided resources (transcript and flat file) as reference materials.

All testing staff must complete the applicable training modules before administering any tests. Staff who have previously accessed AzLMS from the same school and district will use the same link they have previously used to access the site. Staff who are accessing the AzLMS for the first time or from a new school or district must be provided one of the following links, based on their user role, to set up an account prior to accessing their modules.

Test Sessions in PAN

AASA and AzSCI
Test sessions were automatically created when students were uploaded to PAN. Newly added students should be placed in these pre-created sessions. Please do not create new test sessions to group students. The Testing Groups function in PAN can be used to group students by classroom, testing days, or other groupings.

Refer to the PAN User's Guide for information on creating Testing Groups. Creating Testing Groups will allow the ability to filter to only these students to print the selected students' testing tickets and to more quickly lock/unlock students' tests.

ACT Aspire
Test sessions were not created when students were uploaded to PAN. Online test sessions will need to be created for each subject test, and students will need to be moved into the test sessions. For students testing with accommodations, it is important to complete the student's Personal Needs Profile (PNP) in PAN prior to moving the students into test sessions.

ACT
Test sessions were not created when students were uploaded to PAN. Students testing online will be placed in one test session, which will include all of the test subjects. Test sessions for Test Window 1 can now be created, and students can be assigned to those test sessions. For Test Window 2, online test sessions can be created beginning April 1.
ACT Aspire Chat with an Expert

An ACT Aspire Chat with an Expert session was held on February 26. The recording will be posted soon on the Pearson-hosted ACT Aspire support website. This is a great resource if you have questions about ACT Aspire test administration!

An additional Chat with an Expert session has been scheduled for Thursday, March 19, at 9:00am. Registration is not required to attend. If you have questions about ACT Aspire test administration, join the Teams call using the link below.
