WorkWell: helping people stay well and working |
We have been involving people to hear their views on WorkWell, which aims to help people stay well and in work. This has included speaking to the public, employers and staff supporting people with health and work.
We have:
- Run a survey
- Asked community organisations to hold chats in their area
- Held public workshops
- Interviewed staff who work with people when they need support with health and work
- Tested what people think of posters and leaflets
- Interviewed small and medium sized employers

Join the Northern Neonatal (NorNet) Community Engagement group |
NorNet want to hear from more family voices. They also want to hear more diverse voices.
They would like community groups, charities and organisations to get involved.
Please get in touch if you support anyone who has had a baby who:
- Was born poorly or early and
- Stayed in neonatal care

Be part of the Youth Voice Network: Part of the Child Health and Wellbeing Network |
The Youth Voice Network brings health, schools, councils and voluntary sector groups together. We help children and young people share their ideas and shape the services they use.
We talk about things that matter to young people, like:
- Mental health
- Poverty
- School and learning
Why should your organisation join?

- Work with others across the region
- Get free resources, updates and access to research
- Make change happen
- Create opportunities for young people

Do you work in the North East or North Cumbria with:
- Children and young people
- Families
- Carers
We would love to hear from you!
We want to make hospital care better for children and young people over the next 10 years. Your ideas will help NHS foundation trusts to set priorities. They will then work together to help hospital care to be fair, strong, and high-quality.
This work is being done together by networks and providers in the region.

Sunderland dementia survey |
Extra care housing: Sunderland |
Healthwatch Sunderland is working with Sunderland City Council.
They want to hear from local people who may want extra care housing now or in the future. Extra care housing is for people aged 55 and over. It lets people live in their own homes and stay independent. There is care and support on site if they need it.
Please fill in a short survey. Your answers will help the council:
- Learn what information people need
- What matters most when choosing extra care Housing
- Improve how people hear about these homes

Disability Rights UK thinks there should be a new 'Accessibility Act'. This would make buildings, services, websites, transport, and information easier to access. If you are an autistic person or have a learning disability You can share your views about:
- What accessibility means to you
- The challenges you face
- What would help

SEND reform consultation now open |
The government has launched a consultation on proposals to reform the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system. The plans aim to improve support for children and young people aged 0–25.
They are seeking views from:
- Families
- Young people
- Professionals
The consultation closes at 11:59pm on 18 May 2026.

Dementia care and impacts on unpaid carers: Gateshead |
Healthwatch Gateshead wanted to learn about the lives of unpaid carers who look after someone with dementia.
They asked carers about:
- How caring affects their own life
- What support services they know about
- How easy it is to get these services
A report with all the findings is now ready to read. |

Last month, we told you about a webinar. This shared what people with learning disabilities, their families, and carers said what would help them after a cancer diagnosis. Now, the full report about this work is ready to read. |

A community guide to North Tyneside |
There is a new leaflet called Welcome to North Tyneside. It was made by people who live in the area.
The leaflet helps anyone who is new to North Tyneside. Inside, you can find lots of useful information, like:
- Where to get health help
- Local community groups
- Places to enjoy nature
It’s a friendly guide to help you feel at home in your new community.
