Important change to mark submission for moderated work

25 March 2026
Dear colleague,

Last month, we let you know about the important changes to how you submit marks and student work for GCSE, International GCSE, A Level, Project Qualifications, Entry Level Certificate and BTEC Tech Awards. We’re now sharing a few additional updates to help you prepare for this summer.
A recap on what’s changing

You’ll need to submit your centre marks before we release the list of students selected for the moderation sample.

If you missed our previous update, you can read about the changes to mark submission here.

You can also explore our subject level guidance for advice tailored to your qualification.
Highest and lowest candidates now included automatically
Your highest and lowest scoring candidates will now be included in your sample list automatically. There’s no longer any need to add these manually unless you make very late entries.
You’ll receive an email notification when your sample is ready

Once a moderation sample becomes visible in Edexcel Online, your exams officer will receive an email letting them know it’s ready to view. This means you won’t need to keep checking, and we’ll notify your exam team as soon as it’s available.
Remember, centre marks must be accurate

Please check your marks carefully before submitting them, as your sample is generated from these. If you need to correct any marks afterwards, please use the new mark change form, which helps us process updates quickly and accurately.
Viewing your sample

Once your list of students chosen for the moderation sample is available, they will be highlighted in the same way as in previous years.
  • Edexcel Online - Green ticks - highlighting those students in the sample
  • LWT - Purple “P” icon - highlighting those in the sample
A new ‘View Sample’ button shows the selected learners for the moderator sample. Centre marks for all students must be submitted before the student list is released for moderation.

What happens next

We’ll continue to share further updates and reminders as we move towards the 15 May deadline. We know these changes may mean working slightly differently, and we appreciate your support as we bring in these improvements.
If you have any questions, please get in touch through the Pearson Support Portal, we’re here to help.
