A Message to All

Congratulations to all who matched! This will be your last newsletter for the 2026 cycle. We hope your negotiations went smoothly and that congregations with candidates are receiving your announcements with great joy!

Blessings to all who did not match. May your faithful work yield a wonderful partnership in the future. Count on the continued care and support of the UUA Transitions Team.

Welcome to all who are new to search in 2026! It has been a robust search cycle so far. May the energy and success continue!

Archiving completed searches

The UUA Transitions Team will archive the search profiles for congregations that had a match on Wednesday. If you need a copy of your congregation’s search profile, use the print options from the preview mode to save a PDF before then. Don’t worry, the UUA retains your profile indefinitely.

When we archive a search, the search system sends an automated email to the search team to request the final details of your contract and a copy of the contract. Please complete this or share it with someone on your negotiating team.

Some data on the search so far


  • 12 of 14 settled searches had matches
  • 27 of 34 contract search teams which ranked applicants had matches, including several which did not find a match last cycle. There were also several congregations which did not have applicants in active consideration and did not participate in ranking and matching.
  • 1 of 3 developmental search teams had a match.

We’re not sharing the number of ministers who are still looking because we do not have that information. We can tell how many ministers did not have matches last week, but we’re not sure of their search plans. We know that there will be new ministers entering the search in April, in addition to the ministers who want to continue searching.
 

What’s ahead in search

We will begin publishing search profiles for the open contract search on Wednesday and interim search profiles before 22 April. Several searches will roll over from the Primetime contract search; others will be new. One settled search (Westport, CT) will convert to an open contract search with increased compensation and a multi-year agreement. For the open contract search, search teams may make offers at will and ministers may accept them at will. Here are the calendars:

Ministers: Interested in Interim Ministry? 

Congregational interim ministry profiles will begin to be published on MinistrySearch Friday, April 3rd. If you've not thought of interim ministry before but might be interested, know that you will have support through UUA training to help equip you. Reach out to Patrice Curtis if you have any questions.
