High school students invited to apply for Edmonton Fire Cadet program
April 1, 2026

High school students interested in a career in emergency services are invited to apply for Edmonton Fire Rescue Services’ Fire Cadet program to gain first-hand experience.

This program provides unique coursework that allows students to develop leadership skills, get involved in the community and connect with like-minded peers.

Through a mix of classroom learning and hands-on experiences, students in grades 10 to 12 learn the importance of mental and physical wellness and teamwork while building employment skills and gaining insight into the day-to-day work of a firefighter.
Fire cadets can earn up to six high school credits for participating in the two-semester, 10-month program, which begins in September.

Students are invited to apply by April 30. Those selected for an interview will be required to participate in a physical fitness test.
