PRESS RELEASE: Milwaukee County Parks Announces the Return of the 3rd of July Drone Show

Milwaukee, WI – Milwaukee County Parks, in partnership with the Milwaukee County Executive's Office and the Milwaukee Parks Foundation, is excited to announce the return of the Independence Day Drone Show on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 9:15 p.m. along the
lakefront at
McKinley Beach.

We are proud to partner once again with Northern Lights Drone Show by BCI Entertainment. This year’s signature event will take the experience to new heights with the debut of pyrotechnic drone technology, combining synchronized aerial light formations with safe, controlled spark effects for an even more dynamic and visually stunning performance. The drone show will be approximately 45 minutes long featuring patriotic light displays, plus much more.

“Milwaukee County is at its best when we come together to create memorable, inclusive experiences for everyone. We’re proud to bring the community back together for the annual July 3rd drone show, highlighting not just our beautiful lakefront but the creativity and collaboration that make Milwaukee County so special,” said Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. “Thanks to the Milwaukee Parks Foundation’s incredible efforts to secure sponsorships, this drone show is another example of how we’re investing in our parks, our neighborhoods, and our shared sense of community pride.”

Before the show, attendees can enjoy an expanded lineup of family-friendly activities along the lakefront, making McKinley Beach a destination for all ages leading up to the evening’s main event. Additional details on activities, vendors, and amenities will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Events like the July 3 Drone Show highlight the role our parks play in bringing people together and improving quality of life." said Milwaukee County Parks Director, Guy Smith. "By expanding offerings before the show, we’re inviting the community to enjoy more of what our lakefront parks have to offer.”

This year’s event also comes with an exciting opportunity for community impact. The Milwaukee Parks Foundation has announced that philanthropists David Herro and Jay Franke have pledged a $50,000 challenge grant to support the July 3 celebration.

“Philanthropists David Herro and Jay Franke have put forth a $50,000 challenge grant to the Milwaukee community for our July 3, 2026 Independence Day Celebration and Drone Show. Help us reach this goal by Friday, May 15 so we can fully fund the drones and improve the experience for attendees,” said Milwaukee Parks Foundation Director, Rebecca Stoner.

Community members are encouraged to contribute and help meet the fundraising goal by May 15, 2026, ensuring a high-quality experience for all attendees. Milwaukee
