Construction on 95 Avenue resumes for its final year

Starting the week of April 20, work will resume on Stage 2 of the 95 Avenue Renewal project from 163 Street to 170 Street. The project will rehabilitate roads, replace streetlights, sidewalks, curbs and gutters and add missing sidewalk links where possible. Construction is scheduled for completion in fall 2026. Measures being taken to minimize traffic disruptions are outlined below.

Construction details:
  • Road reconstruction from 163 Street to 170 Street, including the replacement of sidewalks, curbs and street lighting on the south side of 95 Avenue.
  • Removal of the service road on the south side of 95 Avenue from 165 Street to 170 Street and construction of a shared pathway. 
  • Permanent removal of service road lane access on the south side of 95 Avenue, east of 170 Street.
  • Installation of on-street parking bays.
  • Tree removals, where required, with new landscaping and tree replanting.  
  • Bus stop upgrades east of 167 Street.
  • New sustainable stormwater drainage.
Traffic and access:
  • ETS routes will continue to operate; however, bus stops may close temporarily during construction on stop pads. Temporary schedule impacts may occur. Residents are encouraged to use the ETS Trip Planner or visit edmonton.ca/RouteBrochures for current route and schedule details. Detours involving single-lane traffic splits will be required throughout the project, resulting in impacts to traffic and pedestrian corridors. Please follow the posted on-site signage. 
  • Closures of 167 Street and 165 Street will be phased to maintain north/south access.
  • Pedestrians may be required to cross 95 Avenue. Please follow all posted signage in the area. 
  • Emergency vehicle access will be maintained and prioritized at all times.
