Thank you to the 369 people who talked to Healthwatch about getting help from primary care. People shared their views on using:

We heard from lots of different people like:
- People who don't use digital services
- People who don't use services much
We will use what people have told us to improve access to primary care. |

New report about patient voice and Healthwatch |
The King’s Fund has written a new report about Healthwatch and what we can learn from it.
The report looks at:
- What has worked well
- What has been challenging
- How to improve listening to people
To write the report, The King’s Fund:
- Read lots of existing research
- Talked to people through interviews
- Ran workshops with local and national groups

Be Menopause Aware: training for people with a learning disability |
Be Menopause Aware is a course run by women with a learning disability, for women with a learning disability. It raises awareness of perimenopause and menopause.
The Learning Disability Network and Skills for People wrote this course. The team will deliver courses in 2026 and 2027. |

New mental health Lived Experience Reference Groups |
The mental health trust for Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear is setting up new Lived Experience Reference Groups.
The groups will bring together service users, carers, community groups, and staff. The aim is to make sure people can shape the design and delivery of services. They will also be an important part of checking how the services are performing.

Help shape ambulance service research in the North East |
Join the new Patient and Public Research Group for North East Ambulance Service. This group will help shape research and make sure people's views are included from the start.
You do not need to have used an ambulance. You just need to be interested in how services work.
They want five people with different backgrounds and life experiences. There will be three meetings a year. Each meeting will last one hour. Email to find out more: karl.charlton@neas.nhs.uk |

Get involved: support pupils with SEND to attend school |
This is new work to look at pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in mainstream secondary schools. You can help shape this work and improve how families and school work together.
The aim is to learn more about the problems that pupils with SEND face at school, which can affect how often they attend. This work will bring pupils, parents, carers, and school staff together to share learning and solve problems as a team.
Pupils, families, and staff can get involved to shape the programme. To find out more, contact:

County Durham: Join the Adult Social Care Service User Forum
|
Join the forum to share your views on adult social care in County Durham. It is an online space where you can find out about projects that put the voices of people who use services, and carers, at the heart of decision making. It tells you about how you can get involved.

Cancer care survey for children under 16 |
The survey aims to learn about the experiences of children with cancer or tumours, and their parents or carers.
People who can take part will get a survey in the post. Please raise awareness and encourage people to fill it in if they get one. The feedback will help the NHS to improve cancer services for children and young people. |

National Cancer Patient Experience Survey |
The National Cancer Patient Experience Survey is for people aged 16 and over. It helps the NHS learn what works well and what needs to improve in cancer care.
If you have hospital cancer treatment between April and June 2026, you may be invited to take part later in the year. You will get a letter with more information.
Results help the NHS and cancer charities work with patients to make changes. |

Sunderland dementia survey |
The council want to hear from people with dementia, their families, carers and staff. They want to learn about people’s needs and what matters most.
Your answers will help make a new dementia plan. Partners will work together on the plan.

Sunderland Carers' Centre want your thoughts on how to better support carers.
They would like your feedback in a short survey if:
- You currently attend their sessions
- If you used to go to their sessions
- If you haven't been able to go to their sessions.

Healthwatch is your health and social care champion. They:
- Listen to your experiences of using health and care services
- Share what they hear with the people who run services
- Help you find clear advice and info
Your local Healthwatch website exlpains:
- How you can get involved and access support
- What projects are happening and what they have heard
- The difference you can make by sharing your experience
- Volunteering opportunities
