The Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) is open to health and care staff and volunteers across the region. With a one‑hour introduction and a supportive 8‑week programme, MBLC helps you manage stress, build resilience and reconnect with what helps you feel well - at work and beyond.

Deaf Awareness eLearning is now available via the Boost Learning Academy. This free training builds understanding of the experiences and needs of deaf and Deaf people, offering practical guidance to improve communication, accessibility and inclusive practice. Completing it supports more confident, inclusive everyday interactions.

This inspiring Boost session explores how young people with congenital heart disease (CHD) co‑produced a powerful peer support resource. Led by the North East and North Cumbria CHD network, it highlights the value of lived experience in creating meaningful, practical support to help others better navigate life with this condition.

A new Death, Dying and Bereavement resource is supporting people with learning disabilities across North Cumbria to have more open, compassionate conversations. Co‑produced with over 25 partners and led by Eden Valley Hospice, the easy‑read pack helps reduce inequalities and support personalised end‑of‑life care and bereavement support.

Introduction to Leadership and Management Programme
Applications are open for the Introduction to Leadership and Management Programme from the North East and Yorkshire Leadership Academy. This interactive course supports aspiring managers and those new to leadership to build confidence, practical skills and capability. Places are limited, with half‑day sessions running June-August 2026. Apply by 1 May.

A new Reducing Professional Stigma training aims to tackle stigma towards people who use alcohol and other drugs. Part of a national pilot led by Liverpool John Moores University, this free 30‑minute online course helps professionals reflect on attitudes, reduce stigma in practice and support more inclusive, compassionate care.

Following Social Prescribing Day, attention has turned to the vital role of social prescribing and link working in North Cumbria. Cumbria CVS has launched a new website sharing local approaches and partners, alongside a forthcoming system‑wide report and celebration event on 7 May highlighting learning and impact across neighbourhood health.

Hate Crimes within mental health hospitals
New learning explores hate crime within mental health inpatient services, sharing real experiences from staff, police and the CPS. The module supports safe recognition, reporting and trauma‑informed responses, clarifies police involvement and capacity issues, and strengthens multi‑agency working.
