Dear Friends,
Micah
As I was nearing my second year working in Milwaukee, I began noticing a pervasive restlessness. Eventually, after acknowledging the feeling more directly and sitting with it, I realized that the pattern of my adult life had been a major transition every two years: a new town, new work, new people. But this time, there was not an invitation to another transition; the invitation was to stay, to settle in, to make a home here.
During the last eleven years, Milwaukee has certainly become home. I have been privileged with a broad vantage point to witness the Lord working in countless ways, in countless places, and through countless people. Working in campus ministry, young adult ministry, and with over 65 missionaries who have served in the Archdiocese, I have had a front-row seat to the beautiful faith of young people. There is still nothing better than seeing the lightbulb go on, seeing something click, and witnessing conversion up close and personal.

Amidst all of this, even in a place that has become so dearly home, the transitions keep coming: students graduate, people move, get married, change jobs, have children, leaders change, society changes… and it becomes clearer and clearer that we are a pilgrim people, and heaven is our home.

This pilgrim spirituality gives me great confidence that the Lord is in control and that He will provide everything we need in every season. I am now at a new point of reflection, as I have received a new invitation and will be finishing my time at the Archdiocese this summer.

I am so grateful to have shared in the work of the vineyard with so many incredible people, and I am confident in the great people who will carry the work forward in new and beautiful ways. Truly, “Life with Christ is a wonderful adventure.” — St. John Paul II

Know of my prayers (Eph. 1:16–19),
