PROJECT UPDATE
Taylors Ferry Reservoirs and Site Seismic Improvement Project: May 2026 |
Dear Valued Customers and Community Members,
When the project is complete in fall 2026, the two new reservoirs, pump station, and pipelines at the Taylors Ferry site will work together with the Florence Lane and Garden Home reservoirs. These facilities will store and deliver drinking water to customers in the Metzger area. Water will come from the Willamette Water Supply System, which will draw from the Willamette River near Wilsonville.
May 2026 Progress Updates
In May, the contractor completed:
- Below-grade waterproofing and began placing drain rock around the two new reservoirs to protect their foundations and backfill the site, restoring to finished elevations
- Demolition of the remaining original steel reservoir to make space for a new stormwater detention facility, water pump station, and operations building
- Installation and connection of a new pressure-reducing valve, underground vault, and associated piping under SW Orchid Street near SW Caiden Terrace. This system will work with the future Taylors Ferry pump station to lower water pressure to homes north of the vault, helping protect customers’ home plumbing and reduce strain on the overall water system
This work supports the next phase of construction by preparing the site for new facilities, connecting key infrastructure to existing utility systems, protecting the new reservoirs, and improving long-term system reliability and pressure control for customers.

Next Steps
Over the next couple of months, the north side of the Taylors Ferry property will be filled and graded. Construction will advance on two new facilities in this area, including:
- A one-story pump station (15 feet, 10 inches tall) built of concrete masonry units (CMU), including pumps and a backup generator
- A one-story operations building (24 feet, 8 inches tall) built of CMU, with covered equipment storage
This work will include concrete pours for the footings, foundation, and floor expected to start in June. See the graphic below showing the approximate locations of the new pump station and operations building.
In addition, the areas of SW Orchid Street and nearby curb that were removed to install the underground vault and piping will be permanently repaved in the coming weeks. Customers will be notified before this final restoration work begins. |

What to Expect
No water service interruptions are expected for nearby customers during June 2026 due to the project. Neighbors near the property may notice:
- Sight: Large equipment, trucks, and debris removal
- Sound: Construction noise, including machinery and backup alarms
- Smell: Dust and diesel odors
- Feel: Occasional ground vibrations during demolition and backfilling
- Parking: Construction crews will park on nearby public streets and follow city regulations
- Deliveries and Services: Mail, package delivery, and garbage service will continue, though minor delays are possible
- Drone Use: A drone may be used to capture images and video of construction progress
