Dear Valued Customer,
The water service to your home business will be temporarily turned off during the following overnight time periods:
- Sunday, July 26, 11 p.m. to Monday, July 27, 5 a.m.
- Monday, July 27, 11 p.m. to Tuesday, July 28, 5 a.m.
- Tuesday, July 28, 11 p.m. to Wednesday, July 28, 5 a.m.
During each water shutoff, no water will be available from faucets, sinks, toilets, or other plumbing fixtures in your home or business. Appliances that use water, such as dishwashers, ice machines, and washing machines, will also be affected.
These overnight shutoffs will allow Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD), your drinking water provider, to:
- Transfer your home or business's water service from the existing water main to the new water main.
- Connect the newly installed water main under SW Alton Street to the existing water system.
- Disconnect the water main that previously served water to the area from the water system.
This work is part of the Alton Street Water Main Replacement Project, which includes installing more than 500 feet of new 8-inch water main under SW Alton Street. The project will improve water reliability, increase water flow and pressure, and enhance fire protection for the surrounding area.
TVWD is completing this work overnight to reduce impacts on daytime traffic and nearby homes and businesses while safely completing these important water system improvements. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

- Dates: Sunday, July 26, Monday, July 27, Tuesday, July 28
- Time: From 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Work Area: Near SW Alton Street and SW 185th Avenue
- Homes and Businesses Affected by the Water Shutoffs:
- 3305 SW 185th Ave.
- 3375 SW 185th Ave.
- 3425 SW 185th Ave.
- 18535 SW 185th Ave.
- 18425 SW Alexander St.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Traffic and Access
- Homes and businesses will remain accessible throughout the work.
- On-street parking near the work area will be temporarily restricted.
- Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
- Bicycle lanes within the work zone will be temporarily closed. Signs will direct cyclists to an alternate route.
- Expect delays and slower travel times. Please reduce your speed and watch for crews working in the area.
General Impacts
- Construction crews and equipment will work overnight.
- Nearby homes and businesses may experience temporary noise, dust, and vibration.
- Large construction equipment will be present in the work area.
- Mail service, deliveries, and garbage collection will continue as scheduled.
Detour
A reminder that a signed detour will be in place each night July 26 through July 31 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The roadway will reopen every morning at 5 a.m. and close again each evening at 9 p.m.
- Northbound SW 185th Avenue: East on SW Tualatin Valley Highway → North on SW 182nd Avenue → SW Alton Street
- Southbound SW 185th Avenue: East on SW Alexander Street → South on SW 182nd Avenue → SW Alton Street
- Eastbound TV Highway: East on SW Tualatin Valley Highway → North on SW 182nd Avenue → SW Alton Street
- Westbound TV Highway: North on SW 182nd Avenue → SW Alton Street
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE SHUTOFF
- Before: Store enough tap water to meet your home or business's essential needs during each overnight shutoff, including drinking water, food preparation, sanitation, and restroom use, as appropriate for your operations.
- During: Keep all water faucets turned off.
- After: Once water service has been restored, run a cold-water faucet for approximately two minutes to flush your plumbing. If water has not yet returned, turn the faucet off, wait 15 minutes, and try again.
Temporary Water Discoloration: Overnight water main work may temporarily stir naturally occurring minerals in water pipes, causing discolored water. If your water appears discolored, run cold water from the faucet closest to where your water service enters your home or business until the water runs clear before using it for drinking, cooking, or food preparation.
