Next week on Thursday, September 10, 2026, water service to your home will be temporarily turned off between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. During this time, no water will be available for use from your faucets, showers, toilets, or appliances that use water, like dishwashers and washing machines.
This temporary shutoff will allow Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD), your drinking water provider, to disconnect a pressure reducing valve (PRV). The PRV is located in an underground vault northeast of the intersection of SW Inglis Drive and SW Whispering Fir Drive.
Improvements to the water distribution system now provide appropriate water pressure without the PRV. Removing it from service simplifies system operations and reduces future maintenance.

What to Expect
During the PRV’s disconnection:
- No water will be available from faucets, showers, or toilets.
- Water-using appliances will not be available, including dishwashers and washing machines.
- Access to your home and driveway will be maintained.
- You may notice noise, dust, and vibrations during work.
- Large equipment, such as excavators, may be nearby.
- Mail, deliveries, and garbage service will continue as usual.
How to Prepare for the Water Service Shutoff
Before the Shutoff:
- Fill clean containers with 3 to 5 gallons of tap water. You can use this water for drinking, cooking, and flushing toilets during the shutoff.
- Complete any activities that require water, such as showering or running the dishwasher or washing machine, before your water is turned off.
During the Water Shutoff
- Keep faucets and water-using appliances turned off until your water service is restored.
After Your Water Is Restored
- Turn on a faucet to check that your water service has returned.
- If no water comes out, turn off the faucet, wait 15 minutes, and try again.
- Once water returns, run cold water for about 2 minutes to flush your plumbing.
About the Project
In early August 2026, TVWD began a
water system improvement project on SW Suncrest Lane and SW Inglis Drive. The project includes installing about 1,700 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron water main beneath SW Suncrest Lane, from SW Inglis Drive to SW 190th Avenue and disconnecting the PRV located northeast of the intersection of SW Inglis Drive and SW Whispering Fir Drive.
This $612,000 investment will upgrade the water system in your neighborhood and improve the long-term reliability of your water service.
