Dear Valued Customer, 

On Monday, September 14 and Wednesday, September 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, the water service to your home will be temporarily shut off. During the shutoffs, water will not be available from faucets, showers, toilets, or appliances that use water, like dishwashers and washing machines. 

The two separate shutoffs are needed so Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD), your drinking water provider, can:
  • Connect the newly installed water main under SW Merry Lane and SW Scholls Ferry Road to the water system on September 14.
  • Disconnect the old water main from the water system on September 16.

What to Expect  During the Shutoffs
  • Water will not be available from faucets, showers, or toilets. 
  • Water-using appliances, such as dishwashers and washing machines, should not be used.
  • Access to your home will be maintained. 
  • You may notice construction noise, dust, and minor vibration. 
  • You may also see construction vehicles, equipment, and materials near the work area. 
  • Temporary changes or restrictions may affect parking, sidewalks, bicycle travel, or vehicle traffic near the work area. 
  • Mail, deliveries, and garbage service are expected to continue as usual.  
How to Prepare for the Shut Offs    
  • Before: Fill clean containers with three to five gallons of tap water for drinking, cooking, and flushing toilets during the shut offs.   
  • During: Keep faucets closed and do not use water-using appliances, such as dishwashers or washing machines. 
  • After: Turn on a faucet to see if your water service has been restored. If no water comes out, turn the faucet off, wait 15 minutes, and try again. Once your water service returns, run cold water from a faucet for about two minutes to flush your plumbing.    
About the Project 
This work is part of the Merry Lane Water Main Relocation & Replacement Project, which includes relocating and replacing a 4-inch cast iron water main near the intersection of SW Merry Lane and SW Scholls Ferry Road/SW Denney Road. 

This water infrastructure work is required to be completed ahead of Washington County Land Use & Transportation’s Denney Road Project, which includes signal, turn and bike lanes, and ADA ramp work.   

The project is scheduled for completion by Sept. 18, 2026. Permanent paving of areas of the streets affected by excavation from the project will occur during the project or later in 2026, depending on weather.
