If you have had a stay in hospital in the last year, we would like to hear from you. We would like to hear what it was like being discharged from hospital.
This could be about you or someone you care for.

The Big Conversation on Care |
Social care is personal care and other practical support for people of all ages who need extra help.
You can have your say about ideas to improve social care for:
- disabled people
- people with long term conditions
- older people

County Durham: Adult Social Care Involvement Forum
|
Durham County Council has a forum to involve people in how adult social care works. This is for people who use services they offer. As well as their families and supporters.
The next meetings take place on 5 and 6 October. These will be led by the Director of Social Services. At the meetings there will be updates on the work that is happening. Plus the chance for people to share any local issues. |

Have your say: ADHD and autism assessments |
Autism Action would like to hear from you if you've asked for an assessment or have had an assessment since 2014.
This could be for autism and/or ADHD either through the NHS, Right to Choose or privately.
This could be your experience, or someone you support.
They will use this research to inform the next UK autism strategy. The findings will also inform ADHD policy.

County Durham: All age autism strategy |
Every local authority has to have an autism strategy. Durham County Council would like to hear from autistic people and family carers. They want the next autism strategy to have lived experience at the heart of it.
You can share what is working well and where there are gaps in support. You will help to think about plans for the future.
You can go to one of two online discussion sessions.

Gateshead: Have your say about urgent care |
Healthwatch Gateshead would love to hear from you if you have used urgent health care services. They want to know how you decide where to go.
This might include services such as:
- A&E (Accident and Emergency) / Emergency Department
- Urgent Treatment Centre
- GP Practice
- NHS 111 Online or Phone Service
- Pharmacy First / your local pharmacy
- Out of hours GP services (GatDoc).

Have your say on inpatient care for older adults with mental health needs |
Changes to your brain in later life can cause mental health issues. This could be due to dementia or delirium. We call these organic mental health needs.
We want to make mental health care better for older people. If you have used inpatient services in Cumbria, Northumberland, or Tyne and Wear we want to hear from you. This could be:
- patients
- families
- carers
- staff.

Stockton on Tees: What matters to residents? |
Help shape Stockton-on-Tees Council services by filling in their residents' survey.
They will ask questions about your wellbeing and the place you live. Your feedback will help them understand what’s working well and what they can make better.
It will take about 10 minutes to fill in.

Have you, or someone you know, had an eye disease, like glaucoma? You might like to join an event to talk about using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to look at eye and brain disease from eye images.
This is work at Newcastle RVI hospital and Sunderland eye hospital.
Friday 18 September, 10am -12noon, Newcastle.
People who take part will get a £20 GiftPay voucher as a thank you.

National adult inpatient survey results |
58,000 people had their say in a survey about their stays in hospital. This was in a national survey by the Care Quality Commission.
Patients in the North East and North Cumbria said staff treated them with:
- kindness
- compassion
- dignity
- respect.
Things people said needed to improve across the country were:
- involving carers in discharge planning
- care after leaving hospital
- cleanliness of the wards.
Our hospitals will use the findings to keep getting better. |

Meet the monsters! Young people create films to support wellbeing |
Young people in South Tyneside and Sunderland have been working with the NHS. Together they created a group of lovable monsters, who offer handy tips to get active and feel better.
Designed for easy viewing on mobile phones, the films are a fun way to promote positive lifestyle habits and boost your mood.

Gateshead: Understanding physiotherapy services |
Healthwatch Gateshead has published their report on local physiotherapy services. Thank you to everyone who shared their views.
Services will use the feedback to:
- update their patient information
- support people to self-refer
- look for ways to improve help while waiting for care

North Tyneside: Safe haven |
A group of people who use mental health services worked closely with Everyturn and Healthwatch to shape the mental health hub in Wallsend. It has now been open more than a year. It has helped over 600 people. Thank you to everyone who was involved.
You can visit the safe haven:
- for support to manage your emotions
- to find practical support for things affecting your mental health like housing, isolation and debt.

Cumberland: Community voices at the heart of research |
Local people from across Cumberland are getting involved in research. There are now 15 community co-researchers. They will help get more local people sharing their views in research. So, solutions for local issues will come from local people.
The findings will be used by:
- the council to shape priorities and policy
- the voluntary sector to shape their work and funding bids.

Healthwatch: listening to you |
Healthwatch is your health and social care champion. They will:
- Listen to your experiences of using health and care services
- Share what they hear with the people who run services
- Help you find clear advice and info.
