September 2026

Dear reader,

As summer draws to a close, we are delighted to bring you a newsletter packed with news for a busy autumn ahead. We are gearing up for World Arthritis Day (WAD) on 12 October, and thrilled to launch the 2027 Edgar Stene Prize, timed to coincide with EULAR's 80th anniversary. In this issue, we extend warm congratulations to Maarten de Wit and Neil Betteridge on their well-deserved and prestigious 2026 Carol Nachman Medal. Lastly, we are hosting two webinars to mark WAD and preface the PARE Conference in October.

Dreaming of a Healthy Life

A chronic illness can change your life, but it does not have to define your dreams and ambitions. On this World Arthritis Day, patients, caregivers and rheumatology professionals come together to share hopes, challenges and dreams — and explore what helps people with RMDs live fully and move forward. Explore all the activities on our website and be part of the movement. Download the toolkit, share the campaign assets across your personal social media account and help us spread the message and drive engagement.

The competition is open to clinicians, health professionals in rheumatology, researchers and anyone aged 18 or older with lived experience of an RMD.
