Seeking Accountability for Sexual Violence Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years in state prison following his trial conviction for violently sexually assaulting Miriam Haley. “Today was about the survivors. Ms. Haley, her remarks were powerful, moving, and eloquent. I thank her first and foremost, and all of the survivors who came to lend their support. I’m moved, as we should all be moved, by their courage and their steadfastness through what has obviously been a challenging process,” said D.A. Bragg, outside of court.
We announced the indictment of Joseph LoGiudice, the founder and clinical director of Liberation Psychotherapy, for sexually assaulting two patients in his care on multiple occasions. This indictment follows earlier charges against liberation psychotherapy therapist Remington Yhap. “While expressly described as an LGBTQ-centered practice, we allege that both LoGiudice and previously indicted therapist Remington Yhap abused the trust placed in them as therapists to sexually assault members of the LGBTQ community they serve,” said D.A. Bragg.
We also announced the indictment of John Burton, aka Mr. Immaculate, for allegedly raping two women he met on the livestream app Bigo, as well as trafficking one of the women. “Traffickers frequently turn to social media platforms to recruit women, and livestream apps are no different,” said D.A. Bragg.
“We want to work with folks who come forward because we know the harm in some ways is ubiquitous,” said D.A. Bragg. Watch D.A. Bragg’s full interview with Jeremy Carrasco to learn about how we are cracking down on illegal websites that publish and sell AI-generated ‘deepfake’ celebrity porn.

Combatting Fraud Along with the NYC Department of Investigation, we announced the indictment of a man for allegedly conducting a scheme to steal personal information from people paying for parking in New York City by placing stickers with QR codes on meters. “The unfortunate reality of modern technology is that routine tasks like parking a vehicle have become opportunities for scammers, and everyone must take extra precautions when entering their personal information online,” said D.A. Bragg.

We announced the guilty plea of Arsen Canaj for engaging in a scheme to steal approximately $438,000 worth of diamonds, precious gems, and jewelry from four individuals by giving them forged checks. “Those who defraud New York’s businesses will be held accountable. We will continue to collaborate with our law enforcement partners to help Manhattan’s businesses thrive,” said D.A. Bragg.
Securing Justice for Murder Victims Naquan Anderson, Trevor Carpenter and Alvin Nelson were each sentenced to 22 years-to-life in state prison for the fatal stabbing and assault of 33-year-old Jervey Barfield in Upper Manhattan. “Mr. Barfield was unarmed when the defendants repeatedly stabbed and beat him, leaving him helpless on a Manhattan sidewalk. These sentences hold all three defendants accountable for their actions, and I hope they provide a sense of justice for Mr. Barfield’s family and loved ones, who continue to endure the unimaginable pain of their loss,” said D.A. Bragg.
We announced the sentencing of Vincent Pickney to 25 years-to-life in state prison for fatally stabbing 30-year-old Davide Giri and attacking two other men in three separate, unprovoked knife attacks in Upper Manhattan. “During this attack, Pickney murdered Davide Giri, a brilliant and talented young man with so much life ahead of him. Mr. Giri’s death sent shock waves throughout an entire community and devastated his family, classmates, teachers, teammates and friends,” said D.A. Bragg.
On the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims, D.A. Bragg joined Harlem Mothers and Fathers S.A.V.E. to honor the lives of those tragically lost to violence. “We’re not just your government, we’re your neighbors and we serve beside you,” said D.A. Bragg.

Cracking Down on Gun Violence Lenue Moore was sentenced to life in state prison without parole for fatally shooting Jacqueline Billini, her friend Levaughn Harvi and her dog, Zeus, in Washington Heights. “This senseless act of retaliation left two families and an entire community grieving, including Mr. Harvin’s children, who witnessed the unimaginable. While we cannot undo this unspeakable violence, I hope that today brings a measure of closure to the families and loved ones of Ms. Billini and Mr. Harvin, and may their memories live on for years to come,” said D.A. Bragg.
Returning Stolen Antiquities We announced the historic return of 36 antiquities, collectively valued at more than $5 million, to the people of Syria. “This was an incredibly complicated, multi-faceted investigation that could only have been accomplished through close partnerships that spanned the globe, and I thank everyone involved for their tireless effort and dedication,” said D.A. Bragg.
