Notice of public hearing for Charter Bylaw 21584 |

City Council will hold a statutory public hearing on Charter Bylaw 21584 - To Amend Bylaw 18652 Municipal Tax Relief Delegation Charter Bylaw Amendment No. 1, on December 9, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. in Council Chambers, Second Floor, City Hall.
The purpose of Charter Bylaw 21584 is to amend Bylaw 18652 to allow the City Assessor to subdelegate tax forgiveness authorities pursuant to policy within the Assessment and Taxation Branch.

Petitions
Pursuant to Section 231 of the Municipal Government Act, a citizen may submit a petition for a vote of the electors to determine whether a proposed bylaw should be passed. The process for submitting such a petition is set out in Sections 221 to 226 of the Municipal Government Act. Further information on the petition process can be found at edmonton.ca/Petitions.

If a sufficient petition is not filed by December 7, 2026, City Council may pass the proposed bylaw without further notice.

Interested speakers are encouraged to register prior to the public hearing date, as speaker order is determined by order of registrations. If you wish to designate someone to speak on your behalf, you must complete the Authorization to Speak on Someone’s Behalf form.
