Know Before You Go: Traffic Disruptions - October 16 to October 22
October 16, 2026

Fall is officially here, but construction continues around Edmonton. To help travellers plan their routes, the City is sharing timely information through social media and the
Traffic Disruptions Map.

Once complete, these transformational projects will improve how people move through the city, whether walking, rolling, driving or taking transit.

Please note, construction schedules may change due to weather, underground conditions and other project dependencies. The City works to provide the most accurate timing available and appreciates everyone’s patience should schedules change.
Traffic impacts
  • Fulton Creek (34 Street) Culvert Replacement
    • 34 Street between Roper Road and 61 Avenue reopened October 14 following the completion of the Fulton Creek Culvert Replacement project. The project was completed within a single month, one month ahead of schedule.
  • 112 Avenue Bridge Over Wayne Gretzky Drive Rehabilitation
    • The 112 Avenue bridge over Wayne Gretzky Drive will be closed to traffic from midnight Friday, October 16 to 6 a.m. Saturday, October 17 for bridge deck work. Drivers can detour using 118 Avenue or 106 Avenue.
  • 50 Street Widening and Railway Grade Separation
    • The number of available traffic lanes on 50 Street will be reduced from four to two lanes from 9 p.m. Friday, October 16 to 5 a.m. Monday, October 19 for paving. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction.
  • 184 Street Bridge Over Yellowhead Trail Rehabilitation
    • Final paving was completed October 14. The bridge reopened to traffic in both directions Thursday, October 15 at 2 p.m, two weeks ahead of schedule. The sidewalk was unaffected by the closure.
  • 99 Street Streetscaping and Waterproofing
    • 99 Street will be fully reopened for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists following final paving on Saturday, October 17. Landscaping will begin on Friday, October 23. This work is not anticipated to impact traffic.
  • 17 Street Bridges Replacement
    • Starting Thursday, October 22, the 17 Street Bridges over Yellowhead Trail will close to traffic for demolition and replacement. Due to the site constraints of both bridges and the complexity of the project, the bridges will remain closed until work is completed, expected in fall 2028.
  • Capital Line South LRT Extension
    • Southbound 111 Street near Century Park Station is reduced to a single lane until the end of October for drainage work. Northbound lanes remain fully open.
    • Following mid-September lane reconfigurations at 111 Street and 23 Avenue, the Century Park business centre exit at 25 Avenue onto 111 Street has been permanently restricted to right-in, right-out turns to accommodate the LRT extension. Left turns, southbound to eastbound or westbound to southbound, are prohibited; drivers must detour via 110A Street.
  • 132 Avenue Collector Renewal
    • The southbound curb lane on 82 Street at 132 Avenue is closed for tie-in work. Both the northbound and southbound curb lanes at 132 Avenue are expected to remain closed until Monday, October 26 to complete paving.
