October 20, 2026

The Prix Versailles Selection Committee has chosen to include the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre in the World's Most Beautiful Arenas List 2026. The list was made public yesterday, with Coronation selected as one of seven global honourees. Other selected facilities include venues in Xiangyang, China; Furiani, France; Milan, Italy; Rabat, Morocco; Tangier, Morocco; and Christchurch, New Zealand.
Representing five continents, the 2026 list highlights global diversity by blending architectural maturity, stylistic audacity and local integration.

“Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre is not just a facility. It is a destination, a community connector,” said Mayor Andrew Knack. "Edmonton is proud to receive this international recognition from the Prix Versailles Selection Committee. Beyond supporting community wellbeing, the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre embraces the City's vision of Edmonton as a recreation city and serves as vital social infrastructure and a hub for economic development through its diverse services and resources."

In addition to being named one of the World's Most Beautiful Arenas for 2026, the Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre is nominated for one of three additional 2026 World Titles, the Prix Versailles, Interior and Exterior, awarded by the World Jury.
