Starting tomorrow, the 17 Street bridges over Yellowhead Trail will close to all traffic for demolition and replacement. The bridges have reached the end of their service life and will be replaced to improve safety, meet current City standards and increase load-carrying capacity. Both bridges are anticipated to be replaced and reopened to traffic in 2028. 17 Street between 116 Avenue NW to Hayter Road NW will also be repaved during the closure.
Traffic impacts
- While closures are in place, drivers can detour using nearby interchanges or temporary crossovers on Yellowhead Trail. Please reference the detour plans, including maps, on the project webpage.
- Temporary speed and lane restrictions on Yellowhead Trail may be in place while select work is underway. Please follow all posted signage.
