New 99 Street Streetscape improves downtown walkability and active transportation
October 23, 2026

The City of Edmonton is pleased to announce that streetscaping of 99 Street and waterproofing of the Stanley Milner Library Parkade will be completed by the end of today. The new streetscaping along 99 Street from 102 Avenue to Jasper Avenue improves pedestrian and active transportation, encourages walkability and supports downtown vibrancy.

As part of the 99 Street Streetscaping and Waterproofing project, the following improvements were made:
  • New waterproof membrane for the Stanley Milner Library Parkade and the Westin Hotel Pedway
  • New streetscape that improves pedestrian experience and active transportation accessibility
  • New bike lane on 99 Street between Jasper Avenue and 102 Street, improving active transportation connections
  • Rehabilitation of the Clock Tower Plaza in front of the Westin Hotel
The work was completed in multiple phases throughout 2025 and 2026 to maintain access for businesses and festivals in the area.

Some final curb pouring in select locations will be completed next week. The City appreciates everyone’s patience during construction.
