The 2024-2025 FAFSA is being simplified. However, due to these changes, the Department of Education is delaying the opening and has advised that the FAFSA will be available by December 31, 2023 for families to complete.

A few things you should know:

FAFSA Simplification: Fewer questions for easier completion.

Future Act Direct Data Exchange: Your tax data can now be transferred directly and securely from the IRS increasing accuracy and ease.

Changes in Aid Calculations: Adjustments have been made in determining eligibility. Specifically, business/farm net worth is now considered and the ‘number in college’ field has been removed. While these changes may impact aid eligibility, Wilson remains committed to affordability for all students.

Patience Requested: With these changes, website traffic is expected to peak around December 31 and FAFSA processing may take longer.  Wilson College anticipates receiving data by the end of January.

Prepare Early: if you haven't already set up your account, visit www.studentaid.gov to create your FSA ID.

Financial Aid Timeline: The Wilson Financial Aid team aims to begin packaging incoming students who have completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA in March.

We encourage families to reach out to our Financial Aid Team at any time to help assist with this process.

Finals Preparation
Be mindful that the Academic Success Center schedule changes during finals week due to our amazing peer tutors having their own finals to take. Please remind your student to plan ahead and make appointments with them now through the scheduler link on the my.wilson portal.

Time organization is a fundamental skill of lifelong learning and preparing for the changes that finals week brings is great practice for that skill. Need information about the ASC's services? Contact Mike at michael.bloomford@wilson.edu.

Winter break offers a time of relaxation for students after a rigorous semester of learning and growth. Knowing how to best support your student during this time is important. For upcoming graduates, it also offers a time to start preparing for their future after commencement. Check out these two articles recommended by the Student Development team at Wilson:

Your student has spent the last few months being “ON” 24/7. They cannot wait to turn off. Often, their number one priority is sleep!

How long are you supposed to tiptoe around the subject that your grad needs to search for a job? You want to give them the space, but the topic needs to be addressed at some point.
Students clink glasses at the 2023 Thanksgiving Dinner in Jensen Dining Hall. This annual tradition provides family-style meals served by faculty and staff to students before they depart for Fall Break.
