2. Swearing-in ceremony.
I was honored to be introduced by my daughter and my mom (at 26:57 in link below) and to share my guiding principles as I begin this chapter of public service.
- Keep people at the center,
- Share goals, assumptions, and data transparently,
- Balance short- and long-term impacts,
- Use my best, independent judgment to discern and decide, and
- Reflect and revise when things don’t go as planned.
"We won’t all agree all of the time, but I will use my best judgment to both support our people and steward our resources. My promise is to keep people first, share transparently, keep the long view, use my best independent judgment, and revisit when needed.
I look forward to working with my colleagues and regional leaders, our staff, and our whole community. Together we will build a resilient and connected Arlington that is a great place to live, work, and play – today and well into the future.”
