Updates and Reminders - February 9, 2024

Please see statewide achievement testing updates and reminders below.

As you verify student enrollments in the PearsonAccess Next (PAN) sites, please remember that withdrawn students do not need to be removed from PAN. PAN is not used for Accountability purposes, so these student records can remain in PAN as is.
Achievement Assessments Office Hours

The Achievement Assessments team will be holding optional office hours on the following dates and topics. To attend, please use the registration links below. A Teams meeting invitation will be sent to all registered attendees prior to each Office Hours session.

February 21, 1:00-2:00pm - AzSCI Administration
March 20, 1:00-2:00pm - AASA Administration
April 17, 1:00-2:00pm - Complete Testing and Next Steps

Office Hours
Pearson will be holding AzLMS Office Hours on Monday, February 12, at 11:00am MST. If you or your staff are having difficulty accessing AzLMS, or if you have additional AzLMS questions, please join the AzLMS Office Hours using the link below.

Professional Development Credit Hours
In the "Badges" section of AzLMS, learners can download a PDF certificate of completion for each module completed. The Achievement training module certificates do not include a number of credit hours for each course, and the certificates cannot be changed or updated for this year. Please see below for the number of credit hours for each Achievement training module. This list can accompany your training module certificates for professional development credit hours.
  • Achievement: Test Security and Ethics - 1 PDU credit
  • Achievement: Technology Training - 1 PDU credit
  • Achievement: Test Administration Responsibilities - 1 PDU credit

AASA

PearsonAccess Next (PAN) is now open for the Spring 2024 AASA test administration tasks. User accounts can now be created. ADE's upload of students for AASA has been completed.

Upcoming Deadlines
  • February 16 - Deadline to verify contact information and shipping address in PAN. Any changes or corrections must be made by notifying ADE at AASA@azed.gov. If you are the District Test Coordinator for multiple districts or charters, each district or charter must be verified separately.
  • February 16 - Deadline for paper-based testing schools to add students in PAN and receive preprinted ID labels. Student demographic information will need to be bubbled in on test booklets for students added after this date.
  • February 23 - Deadline to submit requests for Special Paper Version (braille, large print, or regular print) tests or additional accommodations, such as the American Sign Language test form. Please also see the Achievement Assessments Accommodations Manual for details about Universal Test Administration Conditions, which are available for all students.
Ongoing Tasks
  • Create user accounts in PAN.
  • Add students in PAN if they are newly enrolled or if they were missed in ADE's student upload.
  • Submit work requests in PAN if students have transferred from one school/district to another school/district. District Test Coordinators should also check PAN regularly for work requests that are awaiting their approval.
Hard copies of the AASA Test Coordinator's Manual and AASA Test Administration Directions will be delivered to districts and charters in March.
AzSCI

PearsonAccess Next (PAN) is now open for the Spring 2024 AzSCI test administration tasks. User accounts can now be created. ADE's upload of students will be visible in PAN on February 19, 2024.

Upcoming Deadlines
  • February 23 - Deadline to verify contact information and shipping address in PAN. Any changes or corrections must be made by notifying ADE at AzSCI@azed.gov. If you are the District Test Coordinator for multiple districts or charters, each district or charter must be verified separately.
  • February 23 - Deadline to submit requests for Special Paper Version (braille, large print, or regular print) tests or additional accommodations, such as the American Sign Language test form. Please also see the Achievement Assessments Accommodations Manual for details about Universal Test Administration Conditions, which are available for all students.
The AzSCI Test Coordinator's Manual and AzSCI Test Administration Directions are available electronically in PAN under Support >> Documentation and on the ADE website. Hard copies will not be sent to districts and charters. A limited number of copies are available to order in the Additional Order window, February 26 - April 4.
ACT Aspire Updates and Reminders

PearsonAccess Next (PAN) is now open for the Spring 2024 ACT Aspire test administration tasks. User accounts can now be created. ADE's upload of students for ACT Aspire has been completed. 

Reminder: ACT Aspire test sessions are not automatically created when students are uploaded to PAN. This task will need to be completed by the school or district.

Upcoming Deadlines
  • February 12 - Deadline to verify contact information and shipping address in PAN. Any changes or corrections must be made by notifying ADE at Testing@azed.gov. If you are the District Test Coordinator for multiple districts or charters, each district or charter must be verified separately.
  • February 19 - Deadline for paper-based testing schools to add students in PAN and receive pre-printed ID labels. Student demographic information will need to be bubbled in on student answer documents for students added after this date.
  • February 23 - Deadline to submit requests for Special Paper Version (braille, large print, or regular print) tests or additional accommodations, such as American Sign Language or Speech-to-Text. Please note that Speech-to-Text requires a paper test and a 1:1 test administration.
    • Requests for extended time, Text-to-Speech / human reader, testing in small groups, and breaks do not need to be submitted to ADE for review. However, these accommodations should be documented in the student's IEP or 504 Plan, and the ACT Aspire Personal Needs Profile should be utilized as described in the ACT Aspire Accessibility Supports Guide.
The ACT Aspire Test Coordinator's Manual and Room Supervisor Manuals are available electronically on the ACT-hosted website under Step 5: Administration and on the ADE website. Hard copies will not be sent to districts and charters.

New - An ACT Aspire errata has been published in PAN under Support >> Documentation. This errata should accompany the Test Coordinator's Manual and Room Supervisor Manuals.
ACT Updates and Reminders

If students need to be added in PearsonAccess Next (PAN) for ACT, an ACT support request must be submitted using ACT's Enroll or Unenroll Students form. More information about submitting a support request is available on the ACT website under Step 2: Configuration and in this ACT tutorial.

  • The deadline for paper-based testing schools to add students in PAN and receive pre-printed ID labels is February 9. Student demographic information will need to be bubbled in on student answer documents for students added after this date.
  • ACT online test sessions are not automatically created when students are uploaded to PAN. This task will need to be completed by the school or district.
Preparing for Test Window 1
  • February 19 - Additional Order window opens
  • February 19 - Create and assign students to test sessions for online testing
Please note that test sessions for Test Window 2 cannot be created until April 3.

ACT Accommodations
The deadline to request reconsideration of ACT-authorized accommodations and/or supports through ACT's Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) system is February 16. As a reminder, ACT is hosting regular Accommodations Office Hours through March 2024. Please visit the ACT Accommodations Office Hours registration page for dates, topics, and registration links.

ACT Webinar
The third ACT-hosted webinar of this school year will be held on February 21, 2024. All test coordinators should plan to attend the live event or view the recording on-demand following the live event.
