What’s the best adrenalin dose for cardiac arrest patients?

Epinephrine — also called adrenalin — can increase a person's chance of survival and full recovery after a cardiac arrest, but the optimal dose isn't known. CBC’s The National covered a new study led by St. Michael’s researchers hoping to find the answer.

Unity Health Toronto has formally joined the Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT), a unique research centre that develops microfluidic devices that can address challenges in human health. The collaboration could revolutionize disease diagnosis and treatment in Canada and beyond.

Prescribing warfarin for heart surgery patients is complex. Unlike other medications, each patient requires a prescription based on their response to the drug. A group of St. Michael’s researchers developed an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that’s helping clinicians determine what that right dose is.

Dr. Leigh Chapman, the chief nursing officer of Canada, visited St. Joseph’s Health Centre’s Emergency Department (ED). Led by Natalie Madramootoo, patient care manager, Chapman toured the ED, thanked the team for their work, and recognized the contributions of women in health care for International Women’s Day.
