Achievement District Test Coordinator Updates
April 4, 2024
Achievement District Test Coordinators (DTCs),

All statewide Achievement Assessment test windows (AASA, AzSCI, ACT Aspire, and ACT) are now open. Please make note of the following critical dates. Test windows cannot be extended for any reason.

  • April 5 - ACT Test Window 1 closes. Test materials, including test administration forms, from Test Window 1 must be returned to ACT. Do not hold materials until the end of Test Window 2. Paper test booklets from Test Window 1 may not be used in Test Window 2 as this would result in test invalidation.
  • April 9 - ACT Test Window 2 opens. All schools may utilize Test Window 2 for any makeup testing, as needed.
  • April 10 - AASA paper-based testing window closes, including the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) test unit and key-entry into TestNav of any Special Paper Version tests in paper-based testing schools.
  • April 10 - ACT Aspire paper-based testing window closes. Any ACT Aspire braille or large print test responses must be transferred to a standard answer document and returned for scoring at the end of the paper-based testing window for both paper-based testing schools and computer-based testing schools.
  • April 12 - AASA Writing window closes in computer-based testing schools, including key-entry into TestNav of student Writing responses from Special Paper Version tests in computer-based testing schools.
  • April 12 - AzSCI test window closes, including key-entry into TestNav of any Special Paper Version tests.
  • April 26 - AASA ELA Reading, ELA Oral Reading Fluency (ORF), and Math test window closes in computer-based testing schools.
  • April 26 - ACT Aspire window closes in computer-based testing schools.
For technical issues during testing for AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire, please contact Pearson's Customer Support at 1-888-705-9421. Select Option 1 for AzSCI, Option 3 for AASA, or Option 4 for ACT Aspire. For technical assistance, ask to speak with Level 2.

For issues during ACT testing, please contact ACT at 319-333-1567. This is an Arizona-specific ACT number, and any technical issues or concerns that occur during testing will be prioritized.

General Testing Reminders

Testing Tickets
Students must have their secure testing tickets in order to sign into their computer-based assessment in TestNav. Verify student information before issuing secure testing tickets. The use of an incorrect secure testing ticket during testing is a security violation and will result in the student's AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire test being invalidated.

Opening Test Units
Be careful when unlocking test units. Ensure the Test Administrators are opening the approved testing unit. Students taking the same test within the same school in computer-based testing schools are not required to test on the same day.

For AASA, no more than two test units, plus the ELA Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) test unit for Grade 3, can be administered in a single day. It is recommended to take Unit 1, followed by Unit 2, for ELA and Math tests, although this is not required. When two test units are scheduled on the same day, there must be a significant break (15-45 minutes) between units. Do not start a test unit if there is not sufficient time to complete the test unit by the end of the regularly scheduled school day.

Work Requests
Please continue to check daily for Work Requests (transfer requests) that may need your attention for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire. These transfers need to be completed in a timely manner so that students may be set up for testing after they have transferred to a new school. Please also note that if a student arrives on testing day and you need to submit a Work Request to transfer the student to your school, you will need to wait for the releasing school to approve the request.

Operational Reports
The following Operational Reports available in PearsonAccessNext can assist with determining which students still need to be tested as we near the close of the testing windows.

Session Roster - This report has been updated for Spring 2024 to show the status of each individual online test unit. This report is located in PAN under Reports > Operational Reports > Online Testing.

Students Tests that have been Assigned but have not yet Completed - This report generates a list of all students who are registered for an online test administration and have a student test assigned to them, but the test has not yet been completed. Access this report in PAN under Reports > Operational Reports > Students and Registrations.

Testing Materials
For AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire, secure testing tickets and used scratch paper must be securely destroyed after testing is complete. For ACT, student test tickets and scratch paper must be returned to ACT after testing.

Test Administration Directions and Test Coordinator's Manuals are not considered secure testing materials and may be discarded locally. They do not need to be returned to Pearson or ACT after testing.
Achievement Assessments Office Hours

The Achievement Assessments team has one remaining optional office hours session scheduled. To register to attend, please use the registration link below. A Teams meeting invitation will be sent to all registered attendees prior to the Office Hours session.

April 17, 1:00-2:00pm - Complete Testing and Next Steps
ACT Updates and Reminders

Online test sessions for Test Window 2 may now be created. All schools may utilize Test Window 2 to complete any makeup testing, as needed. Computer-based testing schools will need to ensure students are in a test session for Test Window 2. Paper-based testing schools may also use the online test days to complete makeup testing. For more information, refer to the ACT document, Switching from Paper to Online Testing.

If new students need to be added to PearsonAccess Next, or if students need to be transferred between schools, a support request must be submitted to ACT using the Enroll or Unenroll Students form. More information about submitting a support request is available on the ACT website under Step 2: Configuration and in this ACT tutorial.

MyACT
Please see the ACT website for information about students completing MyACT. Resources are included under Step 4: Preparation, under the heading "Complete Non-Test Activities." Students may complete the non-test information in MyACT before testing and up to two days after completing testing. This may be completed on a separate day from actual testing. Students who set up a MyACT account will have the opportunity to send their ACT scores to up to four colleges or scholarship agencies for free and will receive their test results faster than waiting for paper score reports to be delivered to schools.

There is a report in PAN where you can see which students have used the student code to access the non-test information in ACT, the "Student Code Usage Status" report. To access the report, go to Reports > Published Reports. Data in this report is refreshed daily.
