Achievement District Test Coordinator Updates
April 22, 2024
Achievement District Test Coordinators (DTCs),

The computer-based testing windows for the AASA ELA Reading and Math test units (Grades 3-8), as well as all ACT Aspire test units (Grade 9/Cohort 2026), will close on Friday, April 26. Please administer any remaining AASA and/or ACT Aspire tests, including makeup tests, by the end of the school day April 26th. Any AASA ELA Reading and Math student responses from Special Paper Version tests must also be entered in TestNav by 5:00pm on April 26th.

Test windows for AASA Writing (Grades 3-8), AzSCI (Grades 5, 8, and 11/Cohort 2025), and ACT (Grade 11/Cohort 2025) are closed. Achievement test windows cannot be extended for any reason.

All scorable paper test materials for AASA, ACT Aspire, and ACT should have already been returned for scoring. If any scorable paper test materials have not yet been returned, please notify ADE's Assessments team immediately.

All secure materials for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire, including testing tickets and scratch paper, must be securely destroyed. All secure materials for ACT, including test administration tickets and scratch paper, must be returned to ACT along with the ACT test administration forms.

Test Coordinator's Manuals and Test Administration Directions manuals for each Achievement assessment are not secure materials and may be discarded locally after testing is completed. They do not need to be returned to Pearson or ACT after testing.

Test Irregularities - AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire

All test irregularities submitted in PearsonAccess Next (PAN) for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire are reviewed by ADE. If a test irregularity results in a test being invalidated, then ADE will mark the test as "Do Not Report" in PAN.

Emails are not sent to District Test Coordinators to confirm the status of test irregularities. Instead, please review the "Do Not Report" operational report in PAN to view the current status. Access the "Do Not Report Tests" report in PAN at Reports > Operational Reports > Students and Registrations > Do Not Report Tests. Select "Display Report" or "Download CSV" to view invalidated test records. To view all tests that have been invalidated for the school or district, leave the "Test" dropdown selection blank and select "Exclude Unsubmitted Tests." If a submitted irregularity did not result in a test being invalidated, then it will not appear on this report.

The following Do Not Report codes will appear in the report for AASA or AzSCI.
  • 1 = Student Error
  • 2 = Test Administrator Error
  • 3 = Technology Error
  • 4 = Invalidate - Student not eligible for test
  • 5 = Invalidate - Evidence of student cheating
  • 6 = Invalidate - Inappropriate Test Administration
Marking Tests Complete in PearsonAccess Next

Pearson is marking tests "Complete" for AASA. There is nothing test coordinators need to do to mark tests complete and end online testing for AASA. A test status of "Marked Complete" indicates a test was in an active state at the end of the day and was force closed by PearsonAccess Next to prevent a student from accessing it again at a later date. A test status of "Completed" means the student submitted the test.

For ACT Aspire, as stated in the manuals, an examinee's status is automatically updated to "Completed" when they finish the last test. If a student does not finish testing (e.g., dismissal, illness), the room supervisor should manually mark the student's test complete. It is not necessary for schools or districts to mark the "Will Not Test" and "Do Not Report" checkboxes in PearsonAccess Next for ACT Aspire students who have withdrawn or will not test.
