April 2024 update
Welcome to your BTEC Tech Awards April update.

Last month we issued results for the first sitting of the terminal externally assessed component, and overall qualification results for certificating learners. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to prepare learners and managing these assessments. Well done to all learners who received their results in March.

Next month we are looking ahead to the 15 May submission deadline, and the start of the summer series.
In this month's update:
Learner Work Transfer is now open for you to submit learner work for all internally assessed components and the externally assessed components in creative subjects.  Although the deadline to submit learner work is the 15 May, you can upload learner work as soon as you are ready.

We were in touch last month to let you know that the submission deadline was extended to the 15 May, after listening to your feedback and to allow you more time to manage assessments.

To make a certification claim for BTEC Tech Award you need to submit a cash-in code.

For learners sitting the terminal external assessment this May, the cash-in code should be submitted at the same time their entry is made for the terminal component. If you don’t submit a cash-in code, then learners won’t receive an overall qualification result in summer.

If you’ve not submitted a cash-in for summer, you should do this no later than the 5 July to guarantee learners receive their result in August. You can still submit cash-ins through EDI until 2 May, and through Edexcel Online now until 5 July.
NEW - Watch our short interactive tutorial on submitting cash-ins on Edexcel Online
The terminal assessment rule requires learners to take the external assessment at the end of their qualification (the series in which the learner certificates). This means that learners must sit internal component assessments either prior to or in the same series as the external assessment to fulfil this terminal rule. If a learner chooses to retake an internal assessment in a series after they sat the terminal external assessment, they will also need to resit the external component to satisfy the terminal rule. Learners are allowed one retake of each internal component, and one resit of the external assessment within the programme.

If you need to access question papers electronically on the day of the exam, you will do this through the secure download service on Edexcel Online. Please take time ahead of the series to check that you have the relevant access on your Edexcel Online account, so that you’ll be able to access these without delay on the day of the exam.

To access external assessments that are task based (used for creative subjects) you can download these from the BTEC Tech Awards secure test page.
Once learner work has been moderated, we will send you a draft moderator report. This will be sent to the exams officer and quality nominee in your centre. Please make sure these details are up to date on Edexcel Online so you don’t experience a delay. You can also view your moderator’s details in Edexcel Online if you need to contact them. You will then be able to amend any learner marks until the 28 June following your moderator’s feedback.
While we’ll be sending this directly to you every month, there’s a wealth of support available on our website. Bookmark our BTEC Tech Awards FAQ webpage, where we’ll keep you updated.
