Demanding Accountability for White Collar Crime
We announced the guilty pleas of Grimaldi’s Pizzeria owner and Manhattan manager for stealing $32,080 in wages from 18 employees, many of whom reported the theft to the D.A.’s Office after the indictment was announced. “With today’s guilty plea, 18 hard-working New Yorkers will be made whole and receive the wages stolen from them by their employers at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria,” said D.A. Bragg.
Donald J. Trump was convicted by a jury of 34 felony counts for falsifying New York business records in order to conceal his illegal scheme to corrupt the 2016 election. “While this defendant may be unlike any other in American history, we arrived at this trial, and ultimately at this verdict, in the same manner as every other case that comes through the courthouse doors: by following the facts and the law without fear or favor,” said D.A. Bragg.

“If we are serious about protecting New Yorkers from sexual assault, we must update our laws to fit the reality of the crimes that are occurring.” Read D.A. Bragg and NOW-NYC’s President Sonia Ossorio's op-ed calling on the legislature to close the voluntary intoxication loophole that creates an unjustly high bar for prosecuting perpetrators of rape and sexual assault.
Prosecuting Sexual Violence Christopher Villacis was sentenced to 20 years-to-life in state prison for holding his former neighbor captive in his East Village apartment and repeatedly beating, strangling, and sexually assaulting her over the course of three days. “I thank our prosecutors for their dedication to seeing justice done in this case. Most of all, I thank the survivor for taking the stand and recounting this unimaginably difficult experience. Despite his best attempts, the defendant was not able to take her dignity,” said D.A. Bragg.

Bragg.

Bragg.
