Dear Delbert,

People come to Unitarian Universalist congregations seeking connection and authentic community, often in response to living in a wider culture of individualism, transactionalism, exploitation, extraction and other patterns of white supremacy culture. The UUA is here to help congregations respond to these opportunities to grow our ministries and share our life-saving message of welcome and inclusion.

Tending Congregational Life is a new resource offering to help guide the membership journey. Developed in collaboration with the UU Association of Membership Professionals, this training shifts the focus away from growth for its own sake and toward the transformative power that Unitarian Universalism has in people’s lives. The training is intended to support congregations in providing a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone who comes though our doors.

Tending Congregational Life is available through the UUA's UU Institute for $30. It is designed for application across ministry teams so that congregational leaders are able to work together to reinforce life-affirming and creative frameworks with practical tools for welcoming, inclusion, connection, and belonging. Learn more and access the training directly in the links below.

Tending Congregational Life is the first resource developed since the COVID-19 pandemic that is directly focused on welcoming new members into our Unitarian Universalist congregations. Developed in collaboration with the UU Association of Membership Professionals, the training guides all ministry teams to reinforce welcome, inclusion, connection, and belonging. The five modules take 60-90 minutes to complete, including time for discussion and reflection among your team members.
