Welcome to this week’s Exams Officer Update.

As always, our Pearson support portal offers a wide range of articles to support you in your day to day activities. As the summer exam period nears its conclusion, you may continue to find our EO Support Spring & Summer essential information article useful.

Coming soon

We are busy working on a new essential information article to aid you over the summer results period. If there is anything you would like to see included in this or have any general feedback on our articles, please let us know by raising a case in the Pearson support portal.

To better prepare you for upcoming results days we have produced an on-demand results e-learning module which you can complete at your own pace.

If after completing this e-learning, you still have questions, we are also hosting two separate online EO webinars, on 11 July 2024. These events will be dedicated to offering support on BTEC and general qualification results. You can sign up for these events below.

Int EO Newsletter July 2024 - Results special | 17 July at 10 -11 a.m BST
Int EO Newsletter August 2024 - Results special | 12 August at 10-11 am BST
You can bookmark this page to get links to all upcoming events as they become available.

Using the VQ learner tracker

This year you will be using the VQ Learner Tracker, a new module in the Pearson Progress Platform, to help you manage your BTEC summer cohort. Here you’ll be able to identify learner registrations that require any action so you can meet the 5 July claiming deadline. Learners who are expecting results later in the year will not be managed through this platform, as long as they have the correct estimated completion date.

If you’ve not yet explored the VQ Learner Tracker, we’d encourage you to familiarise yourself ahead of the deadline. You can read our quick guide to getting started.

If you are already familiar with the learner tracker but aren't sure what actions to take, you can find more information in our Identifying centre actions required to ensure learner certification support article.
We have now published the Key dates and General Qualification entry code sections of the online Exams Officer Information manual.

These can be located on the Pearson Qualifications website here

We have also updated the Key dates spreadsheet and are in the process of updating the entry code and key date finder tools.
The latest module in our BTEC Exams Officer training series is now available on the Pearson Development Hub.

Access this and previous modules via the Pearson Development hub
Please be reminded the deadline for Special Consideration is the 5 July 2024.

Please ensure all applications are in by this date to ensure they are processed in time for Results Day.

Guidance regarding how to apply for Special Consideration can be found in our Applying for Special Considerations FAQs support article.
Teachers and Heads of departments at your centre may not have had to access our secure systems for some time, with the next time they need to do this being on learner results days in August. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind all users of systems such as Edexcel Online and ResultsPlus, that there is now a requirement to authenticate via an app on a smart phone in order to access these systems.

If you have colleagues who haven't accessed these platforms for some time, please urge them to do so before finishing for the summer, so we can work with them to resolve any issues and avoid any delays in access on results days.

They can get additional support for registering a device and general troubleshooting in our Pearson Portal Authenticator support article.

We would also encourage you to review your centres accounts and make sure only those who should have access to results on embargoed results days, have the results profile ticked. Teachers should not be able to view results until results are released to learners.

Taking these steps now will ensure we all have a successful results day.
We have now released our Post Results Service fees which cover the period 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025.

These new fees cover any post results services raised following the release of any summer 2024 general qualification results.

We have made lots of enhancements in recent months, to increase the security of Pearson and centre data, and maintain the integrity of our qualifications and assessment materials. These have included a move to Multi Factor Authentication and enforcing enhanced password requirements for all our platform users.

We have created a new Security page on or qualifications website, where we will share best practise as well as guidance on how you can spot if something doesn’t seem quite right.
