Ulverston library protest
Ulverston Library Survey

Survey: Click here

Ulverston Town Council have launched a survey for the community to share their thoughts on the closed Kings Road Library and the current library service in The Coro.

Ulverston King’s Road Library closed on 1st September 2023 due to "electrical issues". A temporary library service was set up in the Market Hall and The Coro Ante Room. It is now based solely in the Supper Room of The Coro.

Ulverston Town Council would like to encourage as many people as possible to fill out the survey as we recognise that the views of the community are extremely important and will help to shape the future of the Library and services. The survey takes around two minutes to fill in.

Paper copies of the survey will also be available from Ulverston Town Council Office on County Square, where completed surveys can be posted in the letterbox outside the office. If you are a business or cafe owner and would like some surveys for your business, please ask for copies.

Alfresco Flicks
Alfresco Flicks

16th to 18th August at Ford Park

Tickets: Book here

Alfresco Flicks returns to Ford Park in Ulverston this August with three classic films, along with pre-film entertainment and the best local food and drink. The joint venture from Dave Crossley (Another Fine Fest) & Bryn Tyson (Routes Bus/Roxy Cinema) sold out every night of their debut weekend back in August 2020 and is now back by popular demand .

"It was such a special occasion. Tickets sold out within a few hours of them being made available and the response to the 3 nights was quite overwhelming. We had so many requests to return and we now can't wait to get back to it and enjoy an evening under the stars with everyone again."

On Friday 16th Aug we have Bohemian Rhapsody plus 70s / 80s pre show disco - (featuring lots of Queen obviously!). On Saturday 17th, we have an extra special event, as we are screening Bob Marley: One Love and will be opening earlier at 4pm with Reggae DJs, Bob Marley singalongs and themed food & drink. Sunday 18th is for families, with the original Jurassic Park and pre-film entertainment TBC.

Fancy dress is not obligatory but is heavily encouraged at all showings! Think rock gear and big tashes on Friday, beachwear on Saturday, and let your imagination run wild on Sunday!

The team has decades of experience in the events industry. Bryn is no stranger to the world of cinema, being part of the Roxy team, where he works as a projectionist and maintenance man. Bryn also owns and drives his own double decker bus, which he renovated and converted into a travelling bar, known as Routes, which will be on hand to keep cinema goers watered with its extensive selection of soft drinks, beers, wines, ciders, ales, cocktails and hot boozy beverages to keep you warm later on as the sun goes down.

Please don't leave your booking to the last minute if you intend to come and you are in a position to buy now. Last minute sales are why so many events end up getting cancelled as many independent promoters simply can't risk the £thousands, and all the time and effort it costs to put these kinds of events on. Thanks for your understanding!
