State Information Data Exchange System (SIDES) Survey

The UI Division participates in the State Information Data Exchange System (SIDES). SIDES exchanges provide speed, accuracy and security to the processing of unemployment insurance claims. The Division is gathering feedback from SIDES users, and others interested in learning more about SIDES.

If you are a SIDES user, or would like to learn more about SIDES exchanges, please complete the State Information Data Exchange System User Survey.

Q2 UI Filing Deadline July 31, 2024

Quarterly wage detail reports for April, May and June 2024 are due Wednesday, July 31. The UI Division has resources to help CO employers and TPAs submit wage detail reports and premium payments online in MyUI Employer+.

Things to Remember at the Filing Deadline

  • Paper reports are only accepted from employers with a valid non-electronic communications waiver. Employers and TPAs submitting paper reports should use the UI Division’s mailed Quarterly Report of Individual Employee Wages form to ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Employers submitting paper check payments must provide their valid employer account number (EAN) on the check itself, and include the Division’s payment voucher.

Submitting Accurate Wage Detail Reports

It is imperative that employers submit accurate and timely wage and fact-finding information. Employer-reported information is a crucial part of maintaining the integrity of UI benefit payments and labor statistics, as well as the accurate calculation of employer premium rates. Please address all errors in your report and ensure the accuracy of all information prior to submitting to the UI Division. Employers submitting reports or fact-finding documents with errors, inaccuracies, or missing information may be subject to penalties and interest charges.

UI Delinquent Premium Penalties Assessed

Each year the Division assesses delinquent premium penalties to employer accounts with overdue premiums. Employer accounts with any overdue premiums that were not paid by August 30, 2023 are considered delinquent. According to the Colorado Employment Security Act (CESA) delinquent premium penalties are assessed for an entire year, however, the charges are applied quarterly and due with each quarterly report throughout 2024. Delinquent premium penalties are only waived if the total penalty amount is under $100, or the employer is currently enrolled in a payment plan.

Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Updates

New State Average Weekly Wage

The FAMLI Division is now calculating benefits using the new State Average Weekly Wage (SAWW) of $1,471.34. This update reflects a roughly 3.5% increase over the current SAWW.

While some claimants who already receive the maximum benefit of $1,100 per week will not see any changes, other claimants can expect a slight increase in benefit payments.

Claimants will receive a notification with their new benefit amount from My FAMLI+. HR Benefits Administrators and Viewers can see their employees’ new benefit amounts by navigating to the new HR Benefits Dashboard in My FAMLI+ Employer.

Take careful note of the changes if you’re an employer with a policy to “top off” FAMLI claimants with additional employer-provided benefits. Colorado does not allow workers to earn more on FAMLI leave than they do while working. Employers may need to adjust any “top-off” payments to avoid overpaying employees.

Q2 FAMLI Filing Deadline July 31, 2024

Quarterly wage reports and corresponding premiums payments for Q2 are due Wednesday, July 31, 2024. The Division has a collection of How-To-Videos, user guides, file specifications, and sample templates for help employers. For individualized support, please call: 1-866-CO-FAMLI (1-866-263-2654) Monday through Friday, between 7am and 6pm.

Office of New Americans (ONA) Updates

New American Virtual Job Board

In collaboration with CDLE’s Employment and Training Division and representatives from each local area, ONA is launching a virtual job board for New Americans. Employers can register and upload job opportunities now through the end of December 2024. New Americans will be able to review and apply to job opportunities through the virtual job board portal. If you are an employer or a New American interested in posting jobs or accessing the job board, please register for the New Americans Virtual Connection to Work Informational Event

Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) Prove Work Authorization

Many New Americans hold a valid Form I-766 - Employment Authorization Document (EAD). If an individual holds an EAD that is not expired, employers can use the EAD as a “Section A” document for the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification form,
according to United State Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Employer Handbook and the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification form instructions. Find more information and helpful resources on the
Employment Authorization Document for Employers.

Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC) Updates

What is Job Quality and Why Does it Matter to Employers and Workers?

Defining and understanding what makes a job “good” can be elusive. Fortunately, a new video series created by Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC)  Employer Coach Erin Young aims to shed light on this crucial topic, offering insights and inspiration for employers and workers everywhere.

In the four-part series, Young describes job quality and why it matters to employers and addresses the misconceptions of job quality by debunking common myths:

According to data, employees who feel engaged and included at work are more productive, provide better customer service, and are less likely to leave, all of which contribute positively to an employer’s bottom line.
By focusing on job quality features, employers can increase the number of qualified applicants to open positions, improve retention rates, address skills gaps, improve their company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion, and ultimately experience greater productivity and profitability.

Watch the Job Quality video series, learn about Colorado’s Job Quality Framework, the six features of job quality, and explore additional Job Quality information and resources.
