September's Event Highlight |
In each issue of our newsletter, we highlight one of our special events to give everyone a glimpse behind the curtain. In this issue, we want to showcase a recent Known Distance Clinic in Duluth, Minnesota on Aug 17-18, 2024. Below are some words from the Shoot Boss, Captain.
"The Northwestern Gun Club opened up their 500-yard High Power range so Riflemen could bring out the centerfire rifles and work on mastering the Rifleman's Quarter Mile. We had the club president and other members (thank you Tim!) to help us set up the range. It is a fantastic facility – thank you NWGC!
This was the first Known Distance event at the NWGC and the first KD in Minnesota. The event was sold out with 16 shooters and a wait list!"

More Instructor Fellowship & Learning |
As an honorable mention, we wanted to showcase a recent Known Distance Camp for Instructors Only in Sale Creek, Tennessee on Aug 3-4, 2024. Below are some words from the Shoot Boss, Maximum Ordinate.
"Seventeen Appleseeders representing five states gathered in Sale Creek, Tennessee for this Known Distance Camp. My personal thanks to Charles of Wiley Farms for his hospitality and generosity! The students at this KDC came together from Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Indiana!
I got to see the facility for the first time on Saturday morning. What a great classroom and range! We began our weekend of two days of professional development for the instructors to master planning, preparing, and leading a Known Distance event which focuses on the 3 Challenges of a Rifleman."

September's History Article:
"The Real Spirit of '76" |
Below is an excerpt from this month's history article on The Real Spirit of '76,
"You've heard about the birth of the Revolutionary War. You heard about the British fleeing for the safety of Boston. This began the siege of Boston which would stretch all the way into March of 1776. Finally, Colonials seized Dorchester Heights and were able to use that high ground, to drive the Regulars out of Boston. However, that elation would be short-lived. America's future hung in the balance. 1776 was a very dark year for the Colonials..."

Special Invitation to "Buckman Tavern" |
This month instead of the normal Marksmanship Tip Article, I want to extend an invitation to the Project Appleseed Buckman Tavern. What is that you may ask?
The original Buckman Tavern was a gathering place for both locals and travelers and the site of many important town meetings. And of course, Captain Parker and his militia gathered there in the early morning hours of April 19, 1775, to await the oncoming British Redcoat troops. As an homage to that, Project Appleseed created Buckman Tavern as an open discussion board for Appleseed Instructors, supporters, and friends.
Kindly review the house rules before posting at Buckman Tavern. You can do so HERE

Partnership with "Right to Bear" |
Concealed carry/self-defense insurance options have grown in recent years. Appleseed has partnered with one of these groups - Right to Bear (RTB).
Why Becoming a Right To Bear Member helps Project Appleseed?
"When you become a Right To Bear Member, your dollars are helping to fund our God-given right to freedom. A portion of every dollar we [RTB] earn is given back to the causes that support organizations that fight for First Amendment Religious Freedom, Freedom of Speech, Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms, Sanctity of Life, and the needs of our Veterans and First Responders."

One Minute to Help Preserve Our Nation |
Imagine a conversation with John Adams, Patrick Henry, and George Washington after 8 years of bloody battle, years of economic depression, and inner bickering on how to secure their new "America". How amazed would they be with our ability to impact our country in just a minute, compared to what they had to go through? Yet, they would be proud of the fact that we have benefited so greatly from their blessings.
It takes just one minute to write a simple postcard, email, or letter to our representatives to make a difference in preserving our nation. Although you will likely never convince a representative who is dead set on a position, they simply need to know that folks back home are for or against an issue and are watching them. Studies have shown that with just 10-12 letters, representatives on the state level can be swayed. With as few as 50 letters, some federal representatives can be swayed. Not bad for a minute's worth of work once or twice a week. This link www.usa.gov can provide contact information for your State and Federal Representatives.
