Information for
Achievement District Test Coordinators
September 3, 2024
Welcome back to the start of another school year! As the Achievement District Test Coordinator (DTC), you will be the point of contact with ADE's Achievement testing team throughout the year. Please watch for periodic emails with important testing information, reminders, and deadlines. Read these emails carefully, as well as our quarterly newsletter, The Assessments Bulletin, so you do not miss important testing information. DTC communications will also be published on the Achievement DTC page of our website throughout the school year for easy reference.

Please note the following additional resources:
Achievement Testing Mode Application

All statewide achievement tests (AASA, AzSCI, ACT Aspire, and ACT) are administered online, by default. Any school that wishes to switch to paper-based testing for any of the statewide achievement tests must indicate this change in the Achievement Testing Mode application in ADEConnect, which will be open September 9 - October 4, 2024. Only the District Test Coordinator can submit requests for paper-based testing in the application.
Achievement Assessments Accommodations Manual

The Achievement Assessments Accommodations Manual has been updated and published on the Assessment Accessibility webpage. All Achievement District Test Coordinators should review and be familiar with the contents of the Accommodations Manual, as well as the timelines for submitting accommodation requests for approval to ADE or ACT.
Special Paper Version Test Requests
Open Now through February 21, 2025

Special Paper Version (SPV) test requests for AASA (Grades 3-8), AzSCI (Grades 5, 8, and 11/Cohort 2024), and ACT Aspire (Grade 9/Cohort 2026) should be submitted to ADE for review and approval using this secure online form: https://www.azed.gov/assessment/spv2025.

Arizona offers the following SPV test formats to meet the needs of students who cannot access the test content through computer-based testing: braille, large print, and regular print paper tests. Please see the SPV Test Request Process Quick Guide for additional information and for the steps necessary to request an SPV test for a student.

Any staff member responsible for the student's IEP or 504 Plan may submit a request for an SPV test. An automated email will be sent to the District Test Coordinator and the submitter to notify that the information was received and will be reviewed. ADE's Achievement Assessments team will then follow up by email after the review is complete or to request additional documentation, if needed.

SPV test requests for the Achievement Assessments (AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire) will be accepted through February 21, 2025; however, we encourage you to submit requests early to allow time for submitting additional documentation, if required.

Additional Accommodations Requests

If a student requires accommodations for AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire testing that are not included in the Universal Test Administration Conditions or Universal Tools in the Achievement Accommodations Manual, an Additional Accommodations Request should be submitted to ADE using this secure online form: https://www.azed.gov/assessment/achievement_aa_fy25.

This request form should be used to request the following additional accommodations:

  • ACT Aspire American Sign Language (ASL): Full Translation (requires a paper test and must be administered during the shorter ACT Aspire paper-based testing window)
    • A request does not need to be submitted for ACT Aspire ASL: Directions Only.
  • AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire computer-based test in a paper-based testing school
  • AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire hearing devices requiring a Bluetooth connection
  • Additional accommodations or assistive technology needed by a student during testing that are not included in the Accommodations Manual

A request is valid for the current school year. If instructional and assessment accommodations in the student's IEP or 504 Plan are updated during the current school year after the initial submission, you will need to submit the updated IEP or 504 Plan.

Please see the new Additional Accommodations Request Process document for additional information.
