Dear Delbert,

At the beginning of September, UU the Vote kicked off its 2024 Fall Mobilizations with a powerful event in Philadelphia featuring UUA President Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt. The speakers at our opening panel reminded us that we build power one conversation at a time. Watch our recording of the panel discussion to get inspired and prepared for this election season.

UUTV Panel Discussion

We know that democracy is not only about election night. It's about our conversations and plans, our hopes, and our values shared over many days, weeks, and years as we come together to determine our shared future. It’s about sharing and growing power, redistributing resources and repair for the realities and limits of democracy as we know it today.

This fall, we need all Unitarian Universalists to be part of these important conversations! With 40 days left until election day, there are many more voters to talk to in critical states like Florida, North Carolina, and Arizona. If your congregation is in driving distance of any of these events, please invite them and join us.

In-Person Mobilizations:

  • October 5-6: Dallas/Fort Worth, TX

  • October 26-27 (and stay through the election!): Phoenix, AZ

  • October 25-27: Raleigh/Durham, NC

  • November 2-3: Denver, CO

  • November 1-3: Orlando, FL

  • November 2-3: Milwaukee, WI

Don’t live near one of these places? Get out the vote at the next UU the Vote national phonebank!

We offer training at the start of each phonebank with support throughout. You use your cell phone and computer but your personal information is protected; you make calls through our service. These events are joyful and grounding and we hear from new phonebankers that it isn’t nearly as scary as feared!

Virtual Phonebank Opportunities:

  • TODAY - September 26 with Yes on 4 (for abortion care) - in Florida

  • October 1 with Texas UU Justice Ministry

  • October 8 with UU Justice North Carolina

  • October 15 with UU Justice Pennsylvania

  • October 22 with Texas UU Justice Ministry

  • October 29 with Michigan UU Social Justice Network

As always, your gift to UU the Vote will help us continue this crucial work in forwarding our values, expanding our democracy, and changing the material conditions of our communities. Donate now to help fund our in-person canvassing events and our weekly phonebanks.

Finally, we know building a pro-democracy society is a strongly-held value for Unitarian Universalists, and UU the Vote is just one part of our story. We want to ensure we tell the complete story of our democracy work, so can you update us on what you and your congregation have been working on? You can fill out our update form anytime your congregation does something in support of democracy and electoral justice.
