Aerostar reports that October arrivals at San Juan’s International Airport (SJU) increased by 1.8% compared to the same month last year, setting a new monthly record of 435,000 passenger arrivals.
Despite weather disruptions affecting several days in the U.S. Southeast, Florida continues to be the leading origin for flights, with 16% of total passengers arriving from Orlando International Airport (MCO) and 35% of all passengers coming from Florida airports overall.

The lodging industry on the Island has experienced impressive growth over the past decade, primarily driven by the expansion and formalization of the rental market through digital booking platforms. As of October, year-to-date lodging supply has exceeded 9.5 million nights, with the rental market contributing 47% of the total lodging supply.
The hotel market faced significant challenges after Hurricane Maria, and some hotel properties remain closed. However, hotel supply nights, tracked by Smith Travel Research (STR), have increased by 4% year-to-date, nearing pre-Hurricane Maria levels.
In October 2024, total lodging supply reached 918,000 nights, representing an 8% increase compared with the same period last year. This includes a 3% increase in hotel supply and a 14% increase in available rental nights.

Although the average rental rate dropped by 10% to $214, rental revenue rose to $39 million, a 10% increase from last year. Year-to-date, lodging revenue has nearly reached $1.6 billion, which is 8% higher than last year.
