Dear Friend:
Please join me at CicLAvia West Valley this Sunday, December 8th from 9AM to 3PM and enjoy 5 miles of wide open streets for bicycling, skateboarding/rollerblading, and walking through the communities of Canoga Park, Winnetka, and Reseda. All along Sherman Way in the district, take in local music and dance performances, grab a bite to eat at a local eatery, participate in interactive games, and more. Team Blumenfield will be at the Canoga Park hub so come by and say hello. More information on activities along the route can be found here. |
If you live or work along the route, please be aware of street closures and parking restrictions. Beginning on Sunday at 1AM, no parking will be allowed on the route. Streets, as well as driveways, will be inaccessible and closed to vehicles from 7AM to approximately 5PM. For more information on closures and detours, please click here. |
CicLAvia is a wonderful opportunity not only to have fun and experience our community in a different light, but it can inspire us to think about how we can make it safer and more accessible to bike, skate or walk around our city when streets aren’t closed down. It is imperative to convert this energy into lasting change and continue to invest in proven ways to make our streets safe for everyone.
Hope to see you there! |

Councilmember Blumenfield’s partnership with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps (LACC) continues to deliver results. Young Corpsmembers work hard each day to keep our communities clean. A few years ago, Blumenfield provided office space for the LACC within his district office building, and he regularly allocates district specific funds to LACC to specifically address needs in the district and he's always grateful to see their continued progress. He views this local team as a potent local strike force to help remove weeds, trash and other nuisances.
If you see bulky items, excess trash, graffiti, etc, call 818.774.4330 or email c03.foryou@lacity.org and we'll send a team out. |

This week's photo, taken in 1953, is from the Valley Times Collection, of Candy Cane Lane in Woodland Hills. Candy Cane Lane is a wonderful Woodland Hills tradition spanning over decades years with neighbors providing a welcoming holiday experience to visitors every year.
A few years ago there were some concerns about street vending, traffic, trash, and the ongoing viability of continuing the Candy Cane Lane holiday tradition. Consequently, Blumenfield and his team worked with residents to implement full-service trash cans during the holiday season, provide large signs reminding visitors to be courteous and respectful of the hard work it takes to present these wonderful holiday displays and deploy enhanced LAPD presence and foot patrols on weekends. If are a Candy Cane Lane participant and would like a sign for your yard, please contact Woodland Hills Field Deputy, Seth Samuels at seth.samuels@lacity.org.
Thank you all the families who have helped make the Candy Cane Lane area holiday decoration tradition spectacular.
