Dear <name>,
We are contacting you to offer support and guidance regarding potential disruption in January due to adverse weather conditions. This may impact your centre, as you have entries for BTEC external assessments in January. Some of these assessments must be taken at a set time on a set day, while others can be completed within a 'window' of time. You can find the
BTEC external assessment timetable on our website.
There are no plans to reschedule any timetabled assessments, and these should go ahead as normal using your contingency plans if necessary. On-demand assessments can be rescheduled as normal, if impacted.
Contingency planning
You can find more
information on contingency planning on the JCQ website. Some contingencies you may want to explore include having alternative staff members ready to invigilate external assessments or amending the start times of examinations (within JCQ guidance) if this would allow external assessments to take place.
During adverse weather, the decision on whether it is safe for a centre to open for assessments rests with your head of the centre, who should consider advice or guidance from relevant local or national agencies. If learners are unable to attend an exam due to circumstances beyond their control, they may be eligible for special consideration under the "absence for acceptable reasons" policy.
If you have any questions or need further support please contact us through the
Pearson support portal, and we’ll be happy to help.
Kind regards
Nick Cutland
