Editor's Note: We've Moved!
Dear Readers,
It's a new year – and we're in a new organizational location within the UUA. Until now, we've been an office within the Ministries and Faith Development (MFD) Staff Group. We are now housed alongside Finance, IT, and Operations, under the UUA's VP for Finance and Investments, Dave Valentine. We look forward to strengthening our ties to these areas as we sustain our connections with the Transitions Office and others within MFD!
Because we are now our own staff group, rather than an office within a group, you'll notice that we're dropping "Office of" from our name, now just referring to ourselves as "Church Staff Finances." Aside from that, we don't expect you to notice anything different. |
New leaders or employees? Changes to staff salaries or addresses? Let us know!
Faithfully, |
Jan Gartner, Associate Director, Church Staff Finances |
Work Authorization: I-9 Forms
We expect to see greater Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the months ahead. As ICE ramps up its inspections, it's especially important to be prompt and meticulous about checking documents and completing Form I-9 for new hires; this process confirms identity and work authorization in the U.S. |
Treasurer Support Team
This past summer, we started up a new team for treasurer support. Carol, Bob, and Cheri are responding to a variety of questions from treasurers that fall outside of the Church Staff Finances realm – and we know there are plenty of those! |
Moving to ACH for Insurance Billing
If you have not yet set up ACH payments, please complete and submit an ACH authorization form (button below) to enroll as soon as possible. ACH payments allow for faster processing, reduced administrative costs, and enhanced security, and we are transitioning all employers to this system.

Annual Congregational Certification
All member congregations need to file for certification by 5pm PST on February 5. This process is used to report congregations' membership numbers, financial statistics, and more. Only certified congregations may send voting delegates to General Assembly. |
