Dear Friend:

We are beginning to see the start of a strong rainstorm passing through Los Angeles with Thursday receiving the heaviest rainfall. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch starting Thursday at 1:00 PM through Friday at 4:00 AM for the entire City of Los Angeles and Angelenos are advised to stay off the roads if possible.
City Departments are on high alert and ready to take action if there are outages, flooding, and mudflow. Do your part and stay vigilant and prepared.

Sign up for NotifyLA
For local updates and alerts, NotifyLA is an invaluable tool. As the storm progresses, the city will send out important updates through this system directly to your phone.

Use 311 if you see damage
If you see a downed tree, flooding, mudslide or any other non-911 damages, please let the City know through the MyLA311 app or by calling 311. The faster you can let the City know, the faster it can be fixed.

Report power outages
If your power goes out, please call 1-800-DIAL-DWP or report them here so crews can start fixing the problem as fast as possible.

Sandbags are available
LAFD is offering sandbags and sand to residents on a first-come, first served basis. Please click here to find out more.

Again, we do not know exactly how bad this storm will be but we all must take steps to be more prepared.

Stay safe,

Councilmember Bob Blumenfield
