Re: Staying Healthy This Spring Semester

With winter virus season upon us, it's important that we all take steps to protect our health and minimize the spread of illness on campus. Influenza has been peaking since January, both in New York State and on our campus. Simple preventive measures can make a big difference in keeping our community safe and well.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Get the updated flu and COVID-19 vaccines if you have not done so this year; this is still the best way to reduce the severity of the illness.
  • Avoid close contact with those who are sick and stay home if you’re feeling unwell.
  • Refrain from preparing food or caring for others when you are sick.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces, including doorknobs, keyboards, and shared spaces.
  • Get enough rest, eat well, and stay hydrated to support your immune system.
By looking out for one another and following these simple precautions, we can reduce the spread of colds, flu, COVID-19, norovirus, and RSV on campus.

Wishing you a healthy, productive, and exciting semester!
