We are pleased to announce that the Annual Institutional Review Report (IRR) for 2023-24 has now been published and is available to download.
Thank you for your collaboration in completing and submitting data for the IRR. Your support is invaluable, and your contributions have allowed us to share key findings, statistics, and insights essential for guiding future initiatives. |
|
|
As we continuously aim to improve our processes and reporting, we would greatly appreciate your feedback. Please share how you use this report within your university and how the data has supported your work. We will continue to explore this with you individually during our catch-up meetings.
Read the Annual Institutional Review Report (IRR) for 2023-24.

We will be holding our Annual Partner Event on Wednesday 12 November 2025. We recommend you save this date as this is only time of the year that you will get the opportunity to network with other partners and the Licensed HN Team.
We’ll share more details soon. |
As we head towards the summer season, now is a great time to begin reviewing your approved programmes, whether they’re your new approvals or you’re just checking if your programmes are due for reapproval/extension.
We recommend you get started soon, as the deadline for submitting programme approvals/extensions for September has been moved to the end of June, instead of the end of July. We aim to complete the approval process within 10 working days of receiving all necessary forms and evidence, but please allow up to 4 weeks for the programme to be created and appear on Edexcel Online.

NEW BTEC Higher Nationals in Public Services
The BTEC Higher National in Public Services have been redeveloped, and the specifications are now available. The updated qualification will be ready for delivery starting September 2025.
NEW Accreditation for Construction and Civil Engineering
From September 2025, our BTEC Higher Nationals in Civil Engineering will be accredited by ICE, IStructE, IHE, CIHT, and PWI.
We will publish the new professional body-approved Civil Engineering specifications (Issue 3) on 25 June 2025, ready for teaching to start from 1 September 2025.
Recent changes in BTEC HN Civil Engineering
Over the past year, we have collaborated with the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to ensure our qualifications meet the requirements for Engineering Council EngTech accreditation. Based on the review panel feedback, we have revised the unit structures of the Civil Engineering Higher National titles and introduced a new Civil Engineering unit, which will be included in the updated specifications for September 2025. This will affect the following qualifications:
- Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering (610/0935/0)
- Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering (610/0937/4)
- Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering for England (610/0924/6)
- Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering for England (610/0925/8)
Those offering the programme with the same title under a TM Licence must make sure that future mapping aligns with the new structure and updated content.

We’ve also made changes to the mapping guidance and template to align with the changes in the centre guide. Please make sure you use the updated forms when applying for approvals, reapprovals, extensions, discontinuations, and changes of details.
